Favicon Generator
Make every icon a website needs from one image or a couple of letters: favicon.ico for browser tabs, an Apple touch icon, Android and web app icons, and the manifest that ties them together. It all happens in your browser.

About favicons
Why there are so many files
- Browsers and crawlers still ask for /favicon.ico first, so it has to exist at the root of your site even when your pages link PNGs.
- iPhones and iPads use the 180 pixel apple-touch-icon when someone adds your site to their home screen; Android uses the 192 and 512 pixel icons named in the manifest.
- Search results show your favicon beside your page title, so a clear one helps people recognise your site before they click.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
- Is my image uploaded anywhere?
- No. The image is read, resized and packed into the zip entirely in your browser. It never leaves your device.
- Which files do I get?
- favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 pixel images, PNGs at 16 and 32 pixels, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 pixel icons for Android and installed web apps, a site.webmanifest, and a README with the HTML to add.
- What image works best?
- A square image of at least 512×512 pixels, or an SVG, with a simple shape. Fine detail disappears at 16 pixels, so a logo mark or a single letter reads better than a full wordmark.
- Why does my old favicon still show?
- Browsers cache favicons hard, sometimes for days. Open the site in a private window to see the new one, and it reaches everyone else as their caches expire.
